Solved: So, this might be me being ridiculous, but can you not trial Sims 4 for mac. I've loaded the trial 48 hour run onto my origin. The Sims 4 demo came out last August before the game was released. At that time, the Windows OS was the only support format. Mac users could and can play the demo if they so choose to, but you have either BootCamp your Mac or use a program like Parallels to run a copy of Windows on your computer.
Just out of curiosity, has anyone downloaded both the free Windows Sims 2 Ultimate Collection and the paid Mac Super Collection? I am wondering if one was done better than the other.
I know some people are having trouble playing the Windows version in Windows 8 (wondering how that bodes for Sims 4) which is on pretty much every Windows computer released in the last couple of years. I can sort of play it on my old Windows laptop, but it's laggy (considering it's using a very old Intel processor), but since I have several Windows games that cannot be played on a Mac, I am considering buying a cheap laptop for them (all old games-pre 2009) including Sims 2 and buying the Super Collection for the Mac. Especially if the Mac version is less buggy (plus I also have Sim City 4 Deluxe on my Mac I can use to make Worlds for Sims 2). So does one version work better than the other?

The Mac version is a straight up 'remaster' of a sort.
It's been re-coded to work with Mavericks, and it's run with Retina displays, at that native resolution. Complete, with a whole lot of bug fixes. The 'Super Collection' is worth purchasing for Mac. I hope it works better than the Windows version-I tried several times to play the Windows version and it freezes every time I try to load or create a family (even running as admin). Not sure if it's the game or my old laptop (which ran Sims 2 Deluxe, Pets, University, Apartment Life and Bon Voyage just fine).
I guess I'll just have to play the Mac version only (I'll wait until after my Habitat house is done and either buy a Surface Pro 2/3 or MacBook Air and use Bootcamp to play my Windows only games). EA didn't allow Aspyr to do more because The Sims 3 (Mac) was announced. Aspyr released the Mac version 6 months after EA.
Actually, it was a contract dispute. It didn't have anything to do with Sims 3 as the last item that was ported was Bon Voyage.
There were still several Stuff Packs that should have been ported but were not. You see EA only contracted Aspyr to port 6 EP's as that is how many they thought they would make based off of the original Sims 1 series. Stuff Packs were not even thought of at the time we only got FFS, GL and HH because EA contracted Aspyr to port Sim Castaways and Life Stories for console gaming and included it then.
EA was in talks apparently with Aspyr around the time of BV, but they fell through. I'm glad Aspyr has remastered Sims 2 and I may have to buy it. If you need any help with anything just holler. Oh, and remember to trash your Group.something (can't remember the name of the file since I trashed mine from last time I played). I'll edit when I get the name again. Haven't had much trouble with the Ultimate Collection on my Windows partition - but I'm running Win7 and refuse to go anywhere near Win8. The Super Collection is tempting - would be nice to not have to boot into Windows to play Sims - but after experiencing the full experience with all the EPs and SPs (I especially like the IKEA SP and Freetime SP; haven't tried out Apartment Life apartments yet), not sure if I can adjust to a less than full experience. For those who couldn't get the Ultimate because they didn't have access to Windows, though, it's a good deal to rediscover the humor and charm that made many of us fall in love with the Sims. According to another poster, the problem I am having with the Windows version is because my Windows laptop uses Vista.
It also is old-has only 2GB memory, an Intel 540 processor and GMAx3100 graphics. Not really surprised, because Vista was the worst Windows OS ever created!
I wish I could get a laptop with Windows 7, but the few I am finding available for sale have slow processors and/or poor graphics cards. Would a laptop with an AMD A6-6310 processor, AMD Radeon R4 graphics, 4 GB RAM, 1TB hard drive with Windows 8.1 be able to run the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection? I have several Windows only games that would take up too much space to use Bootcamp on my Mac and I have difficulty using desktops due to my visual disability (I actually use my MacBook Pro as a desktop).
